Archbishop Calls On Parishes and Parishioners Support

On Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 May 2007 throughout the Archdiocese, Parish priests launched the appeal on behalf of His Grace, Archbishop Barry J Hickey. In what was a very modern initiative, every parish was asked to screen a special copy of the APPEAL DVD at each Mass on this weekend, which provided an opportunity for parishioners to not only hear from the Archbishop directly in his own words, but to also gain a wonderful perspective of what the "renewed" St Mary's Cathedral would look like on completion.

The Archbishop announced his hopes that parishes would collectively raise a minimum of $2.5 Million over the next 3 three years.

His Grace encouraged parish communities to join together to conduct fundraising activities that would also help to build and strengthen parish relationships.

Parish Appeal representatives, specially commissioned by His Grace, ensured that every parishioner was handed a Parish Appeal Brochure as they left services. These kits contained a letter from His Grace, a donation form and a reply paid envelope as well as a copy of the DVD they had just seen during the Mass.
